Research

Numbers the discipline can defend

Benchmarks, field data and case studies. The Association’s working groups write the standards. The Institute shows where a draft holds and where it breaks.

Instrument

The LangOps Maturity Index™

A practical roadmap for transforming language operations.

The index places an organisation on five maturity horizons, from linguistic operations to the Content & Knowledge Company, across five transformation layers: Strategic Foundation, Technological Integration, Data & Knowledge Management, People & Capability, and Value & Impact.

Two paths lead through it, one for language service providers and one for enterprises building an internal LangOps function. Cost-to-value guidance and research from Slator, Nimdzi, CSA Research and XTM International sit alongside.

Four research programmes

Maturity benchmark

The index is collected twice a year and compared across industries, so a score always comes with a peer group.

Field data for the five core metrics

Language lead time, deployment frequency, defect escape rate, recovery time and terminology consistency rate. Version 0.9 is written in the Association’s Metrics working group. The Institute tests it against live programmes.

Multilingual knowledge systems and the AI substrate

How terminology quality changes retrieval accuracy, hallucination rates and the cost of correction, studied with universities and technology vendors.

Case collection

Documented transformations with the numbers attached, from pharma and machinery to e-commerce and the public sector. The collection grows towards one hundred cases.

Case study

BLEND: Sprint25 in a language service provider

How BLEND moved from fragmented localization to a single LangOps operating model.

Governance, quality and AI workflows were designed as one system, and maturity targets replaced ad-hoc decisions and vendor dependency.

Propose a study

Universities, vendors and companies with data or research questions are welcome to write.

Working groups write the standards

Working groups write and vote on the standards. Our data tells them where a draft breaks.
